About Nick Fiorini

I’m Nick Fiorini and I’m originally from the mountains of West Virginia in a small town called Canaan Valley. I grew up developing and chasing my passions for fly fishing, skiing and outdoor life in general. Many days consisted of running around with my fly rod and dog in the mountains of West Virginia avoiding rhododendron and catching large mouth and smallmouth bass, panfish, trout, and other fish. I started fly fishing at the age of six and eventually became a second generation fly fishing guide years later. My great uncle, Buzz Fiorini, guided throughout interior British Columbia and Alaska from the earlier 1940s through the 80s where he achieved five line class world records for Atlantic Salmon and Steelhead. Being a Fenwick Pro for over 35 years teaching others and impacting the sport of Salmon and Steelhead fishing as a whole, he was elected into the National Fishing Hall of Fame in 1953 and International Fishing Hall of Fame in 1985.

As a child and teenager I would read my uncle Buzz’s book and hear about his stories at family gatherings. His legacy and adventures inspired me to follow my passion and immediately after high school (2011) I moved to Wyoming to begin pursuing a career in the outdoors. After many years of making ends meet via waiting tables and doing odd jobs, I started working in the Snake River Angler Fly Shop. Shortly thereafter a friend of my fortuitously left a boat in my driveway and my guide career started on the Snake River. I continued working in the region for several outfitters, including Grand Teton Fly Fishing and Wind River Canyon Fly Fishing where I was fortunate enough to guide on some of the most coveted water in the West. I’ve also enjoyed participating in the famous Jackson Hole One Fly Competition over the years where I placed 9th overall/5th in WY in 2018, 12th overall/5th in WY in 2019 and 4th overall/2nd in WY in 2021.

I am now part of the team at Westbank Anglers guide team while also guiding independently on the Big Horn River in Thermopolis, WY. On my days off I’m usually on the water fishing, backpacking, road biking, skating, hiking or just having a great time traveling the world with my wife, Taylor. I’m very fortunate that I’ve got to experience this amazing life through the sport of fly fishing!
